Homemade Lip Scrub

Keeping your lips soft and polished is easy to do with this two ingredient lip scrub. Here is all you will need:

  • Drop of honey
  • Small dash of brown sugar

Can use organic ingredients or regular. I like to keep a small jar of both ingredients (stored separately in my bathroom) and then use a small scoop to get a small amount out from each jar.

  1. Mix the two ingredients together in the palm of your hand.
  2. Apply to lips using a circular motion.
  3. Give someone you love a kiss!

Homemade Fruit and Veggie Wash

We eat a ton of fruit and vegetables in our house. We buy organic (when we can) and we also make sure that we get them as clean as possible. I make this homemade spray and use it on every piece of fruit or vegetable before it goes into the fridge or onto the counter.

Here are the ingredients that you will need:

  • 1 cup water (you can use regular or distilled)
  • 3 tablespoons White Vinegar
  • Juice from one lemon (or 2 tablespoons of bottled lemon juice)
  • 1 spray bottle

To create and use your spray:

  • Combine the ingredients in the spray bottle (shake well before each use).
  • Spray the fruit or vegetables (covering all sides).
  • Let sit for a minute or so.
  • Rinse off the spray (you can also use a veggie brush to scrub the food while you are rinsing).
  • Enjoy your fresh, clean fruit!

Homemade Face Primer

This is a simple and gentle homemade primer. It only has one ingredient.

  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon of Coconut Oil (Virgin, Cold pressed)

For this I recommend buying organic – but it is not a necessity.

To use as a primer:

  1. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser.
  2. Warm a small amount between your hands and rub onto your face (avoiding your eyes).
  3. Take a warm, wet washcloth and gently scrub your face (use a circular motion).
  4. Remove as much of the coconut oil with the washcloth as you wish.
  5. Pat dry.
  6. Apply your foundation, sunscreen, or whatever your normal routine is as usual.

Homemade Milk Bath

Looking for a soothing bath time treat? Try this simple to make milk bath. You will only need a few, easy to find, ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Milk
  • 1/2 cup Olive Oil
  • 1-2 cups of Epsom Salt (or sea salt)

As I always say you can use organic ingredients or regular. Feel free to divide the bath in half if you don’t fill the tub all the way up. You can also substitute Sweet Almond Oil instead of Olive oil. Additionally, you can choose to add a few drops of essential oil to the water too (I like lavender essential oil).

To use the milk bath:

  1. Run a tubful of water (as much as you like).
  2. Pour the ingredients into the tub.
  3. Soak for at least 12 minutes.
  4. Rest, relax, and enjoy!

Homemade Face Mask

Making a homemade face mask to soothe and moisturize your skin is very easy. Here are the simple ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon oatmeal, finely ground (you can use: a coffee bean grinder, a blender/food processor, or a mortar and pestle)
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • A few drops (or up to a teaspoon) of honey

As always, you can choose whether or not to use organic ingredients and you can use any type of honey including raw if you want.

To use:

  1. Mix the ingredients together (to use right away)
  2. Apply to your face, neck, and chest (wherever you would like to have softer, more soothed skin) note: it may be messy!
  3. Leave on for 10 minutes
  4. Rinse away the mask and the irritation!

Homemade Sugar Scrub

Need something quick and easy to exfoliate your face? Try making this homemade sugar scrub. Here is what you will need:

  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of oil (I like to use olive oil or coconut oil)
  • A glass jar

You can choose to use organic ingredients or not and you can also choose to add a few drops of essential oil (lavender is always a nice choice but it is up to you!).

Mix the ingredients and store in the jar. I like to use glass jars for all of my homemade beauty products.

To use:

  1. Take a small amount of the scrub out of the jar. (I like to use a small scoop or spoon so that I don’t contaminate the rest of the jar contents.)
  2. Rub gently on your face.
  3. Rinse your skin and glow!

Homemade Makeup Remover

This is one of my favorite homemade beauty recipes. I use it everyday to take off all of my makeup before I wash with a gentle cleanser.

It only takes three ingredients:

  • Olive Oil
  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Jojoba Oil

You can add the three ingredients in the same amounts – or you can vary how much of each oil that you use. It’s a very easy and forgiving recipe. Use a small glass bottle to store the remover (I usually mix the ingredients up in a medium size glass jar – then add to small glass bottles to use).

You can choose to use organic oils or not it is up to you.

To use the homemade makeup remover:

  1. Shake the bottle gently.
  2. Pour a small amount (or as much as you like) into the palm of your hand.
  3. Rub the oil onto your face, including your eye are (it is safe to use for eye makeup too!) – the dirt, oil, and makeup will be dissolved and lifted off your skin as you gently rub.
  4. Rub the extra oil onto the backs of your hands. This will help moisturize and soften them.
  5. Rinse off your face with a gentle cleanser of your choice or wipe off with cotton pads.
  6. Enjoy your clean soft skin!
